USCG Rescue Swimmer Deploys to a Baywatch Vessel at Catalina Island
This video features a US Coast Guard helicopter crew and Baywatch lifeguards working together. The crew explains their procedures and lowers a rescue swimmer aboard the Baywatch vessel. The video was shot during the Emergency Dive Accident Management Course at the USC Hyperbaric Chamber on Catalina Island.

Shot with a Kodak Playsport Zi5. Took the Catalina Flyer out of Newport Beach, CA for a 1hr 20 min open air crossing of the Pacific Ocean to Avalon Bay, Catalina Island, CA for a day excurision. Beautiful weather (although a bit windy at times) and explored the island via rented golf cart with a group of 8 other friends. Walked around shops, ate lunch, took in the sights. Great day. Great friends.

So for anyone out there interested in using the lockers at Catalina they’re really simple to use once you figure them out. First you open it up and place your stuff inside. Then you insert 3 quarters. Next close the door. Now press hard against it and don’t stop until the key is removed. To remove the key, twist the orange key to the left until it pulls out. And you’re done. When you want to get your gear out just use the key again and you can open the locker. Of course then you’ll be back to the beginning and you’ll have to insert 3 more quarters to lock the locker again. There’s no time limit so feel free to leave your stuff there all day long!
