N951CC flies to Catalina for lunch then to Camarillo to visit family
We flew to Catalina on August 29th 2009 for lunch. It was a good flight after we climbed above the smoke from the LA fires. The buffalo burgers were pretty good, but the “cafe” was more of a bus-stop cafeteria. We had lots of fun with Lisa in Ojai, then flew back home on Sunday. I flew the ILS into Bakersfield to test out my ILS and marker beacon receivers (which worked fine). We landed in variable winds 25 gusting to 30 knots. I tried landing runway 28, but the left crosswind was too stiff and I couldn’t line up the airplane. I did a go-around and the second attempt on runway 22 was just fine.
