Picking Up a Mooring With a Sailing Catamaran at Catalina Island
Mooring description in Catalina Island: www.visitcatalinaisland.com This video shows my first time picking up a mooring with a sailing catamaran. I am not saying I’m the best at it, but i think it came out pretty well. The Boat is a Mahe 36′ If you refer to the link above, it will show you a picture of the mooring set up in the water. The main difference is that a catamaran has a bridal line connecting the two hulls together and making it possible to center the mooring line with respect to the boat (allowing you to be centered in your “parking spot”). I just cleated the aft line on the side which gave me the most room away from my neighboring boat. Happy Sailing, Eli
Black sea bass at Catalina Island
Aboard the Freelance out of Davey’s Locker on a full day fishing trip and hooked up with a black sea bass. After 30 minutes of fighting with this monster fish, he finally surfaced. With the help of the crew aboard the Freelance, this black sea bass was released unharmed. Fish was caught on the back side of Catalina towards the East end.
