Julie Landing at Catalina Island (KAVX)
Landing on Runway 22 at AVX for the first time with my instructor And the best advice I received was “Keep your eyes on that runway. Forget about the water, terrain and everything else. Do what you learned in the pattern and do that same thing.” It worked! Didn’t have to go around and had plenty of runway remaining. I felt like I was 200 feet too high on final, but I put the nose down and started flaring right over the numbers which came up rather fast…a great experience! 2/14/10
